Comparision HawkEye sCMOS 2.0 versus TI EMCCD LL camera

Study into the difference in imaging performance of the Texas Instruments EMCCD based imager and the sCMOS 2.0 based imager.

The Texas Instruments EMCCD is no longer in production, its’ programmed obsolescence has lead PSL/DVS to produce a new range of cameras with equivalent low light capabilities based on sub electron read out noise CMOS technology.

The results of these carefully constructed tests are showing the merits of the new camera design delivering 4x spatial resolution, 2x the acquisition speed, 16x the dynamic range whilst maintaining the same low light level sensitivity of the former EMCCD camera.

Cooled sCMOS Genicam Compliant GEN II camera in 2048 x 2048 format.

PSL is introducing new cooled second generation sCMOS camera with 2k x 2k resolution.

Camera features improved quantum efficiency and lower read out noise whilst maintaining >30 fps at full resolution, 16-bit dynamic range.

They come as a straightforward and affordable upgrade to existing cooled CCD camera system struggling to deliver high sensitivity, high dynamic range, high resolution and high frame rate, all at the same time.

GEV compliant sCMOS camera

sCMOS camera in both 2048 x 2048 and 1920 x 1080 format comply with industrial Gigabit Ethernet Vision (GEV) standards. The camera can be operated with open source software like Pleora, JAI tool etc. Compliance with GEV standard allows operation with multiple platforms (Windows, Linux) and available GEV compliants SDKs.
